Happy 246th USMC Birthday, MACS-8ers!

Happy and healthy New Year 2021 to all you MACS-8ers!!

I have completed the work on the blog design and all the photos I had have been posted to the Flickr widget on this page.  All you have to do to see more MACS-8 photos is to click on the blue “More photos” text and it will bring you to my MACS-8 photo stream page, then click on “albums” to see all photos in any album..

Check out the “Where R U?” page for MACS-8ers who have not been located to date. Maybe you could help us find someone…  OORAH!,  Kent (KA) Miller, Blog NCO

    • Hi Ken,
I have a few photos of the radars at Page Field (I was a radar tech), but little else. I was at Opa-locka also (and Atsugi), but no pictures from there. Not sure how to get the photos to you on this website.

      Semper Fidelis,
      Don

      • Don, once again thanks. As blog editor I can only upload photos, so you can send Ken Overman those photos to his email address: overmanpapak@aol.com. Also I would appreciate if you would send them to me for inclusion in the future photo section on this blog. My email is under the Blog NCO menu header on the home page. Kent

I was a 6741 scope dope, must have had some contact with him, cause name just jumped out at me. I have a picture in mind of big happy laughing guy??

  6. I found this, don’t know how, but I will keep looking and find it again. Great job! The three guys who have worked on these sites are to be commended. I thank you much.

    • Larry, thanks for the post and the compliment.. Remember to bookmark the blog site so you are just one click away from finding it again! Kent Miller, Blog NCO

  7. I was stationed at Opa-locka as a 6741 in 1955. I saw a reference to Big Mike Picarello on this site, that really stirred memories. In 56-57 I was stationed at Atsugi and Mike was there then. Great guy! Big, loud, usually happy, Hard to forget him even after all these years,

    • Dan, thanks for your comment.. I served with Mike at New River, NC thru Atsugi and Okinawa 62-65.. He attended our 2005 MACS-8 reunion in Mystic, CT.. As far as I know he is still living in North Worcester, MA! You can see a photo of him in our Reunion Section under Past Reunions 2005. Just click on a photo on the right upper side of the Home page of this blog and it will bring you to my photo stream pages on Flickr where you can view many photos. Kent Miller BlogNCO

  8. Morning Marines: Mack Thomas Thornton and his sister are looking up info on Korea & other units and correct names of rivers, etc. during 1951-53 to correct stuff in their Memoirs. Hope all of you are doing well today! (Macscorps@att.net and thorntonmack329@gmail.com)

  9. Spent the better parts of 62-64 at New River in the radio shack with a bunch of 6621 guys. Still in contact with Charlie (Bill) Bascom, Doug Brane, Gary Zender and the Canadian, Bill Steinberg. Charlie has the memory to recall most of the Radio Shack officers and NCOs. I understand that our MOS designator has been changed. Hardly seems fair. Just wonder if the reunion group would consider meeting in Charleston SC with a side trip to PI for a graduation ceremony? I’m not volunteering! Ha! <khundanny@yahoo.com. Cpl Dan Carbaugh, Cape Coral, Florida. PS: A great job on the site!
